When it comes to experience in the cattle industry, Bruce Creek’s career can be described in one word: diverse.

Bruce’s 35-years of experience, both in Australia and overseas, is all about understanding his client’s unique circumstances and adapting their existing practices to increase productivity. His focus at TEC is to help clients adapt to best practice, while also playing a part in extending R&D outcomes.

Bruce has remained at the cutting edge of the industry throughout his career. He recently embraced the opportunity to work with researchers and staff from the University of Adelaide, and to assist in the development of measurement devices to assist livestock industries in welfare, artificial breeding, feed efficiency and heat tolerance.

Bruce has a clear mantra on extension and adoption. He’s all about extending the science currently available and adopting new ways to do business, not to “reinvent the wheel”.

Bruce has been involved in managing large scale beef and sheep production properties for farmers in Australia and overseas, and has become an expert in the implementation of large-scale artificial breeding programs to maximise genetic gain for economically important traits.

He spent over four years in Kazakhstan establishing an Angus herd of approximately 4000 cattle and in his time there, he grew the business to become one of the world’s largest registered Angus herds.

In addition to his current role as Agricultural Business Management Consultant with Thomas Elder Consulting (TEC), Bruce is also the Chairman of the SA Beef Industry Blueprint. As Chairman, he is responsible for a strategic plan that aims at increasing the revenue of the South Australian beef industry by more than $200 million per year by 2027.
